Venue

We are really excited to welcome you to Queen Mary on the 5th and 6th September 2024.


Getting there 

BioMedEng24 will be held at the Mile End Campus of Queen Mary University of London. Nestled in the heart of London, the university is well-connected, and easily accessible. Situated in the culturally rich East End, the university’s location provides easy access to the city’s extensive transport networks.  

The conference will be taking place in Queen Mary University of London, Graduate Centre, Mile End Road, London E1 4NS (Google Maps). Buildings 15, 16, 18, and 19 below (within the green boundary) will host the presentations, workshops, and formal dinner.

The Conference Entrance will be the Main Entrance of People’s Palace (Google Maps). Check-ins will be done at the Foyer of People’s Palace, through this Main Entrance.

Nearest tube stations

Stepney Green Tube (District Line) 

Stepney Green tube station is on the District and Hammersmith and City lines. Turn left out of the station and walk along Mile End Road for approximately 5 minutes until you reach the Main Entrance of the Engineering Building. 

Mile End Tube (Central Line) 

Mile End tube station is on the Central line. Turn left out of the station, cross over the junction, walk under the bridge and along Mile End Road for approximately 2 minutes. You will see the East Gate on the opposite side of the road. The East Gate will be recognisable by a big ‘Queen Mary’ banner on the wall next to it. 

Mile End Bus (From Central London)

The Mile End campus is based on Mile End Road, on the 25 and 205 bus routes, with a stop right outside the campus.

  • London Paddington
  • London Waterloo

Please note there is no available parking space.  


Presenting Locations

Queen Mary University of London boasts a variety of well equipped lecture halls, foyers, and laboratories that will be made available for all presenters during the course of the conference.

The Great Hall for the plenary talks    

The People’s Palace at Queen Mary, University of London is home to the unique art-deco venue – The Great Hall. Located in the heart of east London and originally opened in the 1930s, the Great Hall has seen the likes of Damon Albarn, Fleetwood Mac, Iron Maiden and the Rolling Stones grace its stage, which is one of the largest in London. 

Peston Lecture Theatre And Skeel Lecture Theatre

A state of the art ultra modern industrial style lecture theatre for talk sessions, featuring complementary AV systems, reception space, & outdoor terrace.

Foyers Of the Great Hall, Engineering Building, and Graduate Centre

Natural lighting, industrial modern interior, complementary foyer and outdoor terrace access for holding posters, lunch, networking, sponsor stands, and registration desks.

Formal dinner and social activities 

On the evening of Thursday 5 September 2024, we are delighted to be holding a three-course dinner at the Queen Mary Octagon. You can purchase this as an additional option when you register. 

Dietary requirements  

Allergens will be displayed by the food but if you have any doubts or questions, please ask a member of staff.   

If you have booked the conference dinner and have notified us of your dietary requirements, these have been passed onto the catering team but please notify your server as well.
